1967 - 40 million people saw The Beatles perform All You Need Is Love, a two-hour satellite television program transmitted live by satellite to five continents and 24 countries, as part of the first TV global link-up, Our World. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Graham Nash, Keith Moon and Gary Leeds provided backing vocals. This was the first live television satellite program to air worldwide.

1996 - La Toya Jackson filed a lawsuit against her estranged manager-husband Jack Gordon, saying he beat her to get her to pose nude. Michael Jackson's older sister was seeking as much as $20 million. The suit came 6 weeks after she filed for divorce from her husband of six years. Jackson, who had appeared nude in Playboy magazine and videos, said she was hospitalised after an attack in 1993. She also said Gordon beat and kicked her for refusing to start up a phone-sex line and perform at topless clubs.
